Product
When Sarah and Emmet started Remedy, they wanted to do something good. They knew that healthy didn’t have to be boring – healthy could be tasty. Extraordinary even. They believed we all deserved to know that, too. Since day one, Remedy has been committed to making drinks that are truly better for you.
ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS
Our drinks have always been 100% natural, using only the best quality ingredients. We never use anything artificial (no artificial colours, flavours, or sweeteners can be found here!). The natural flavours we use are derived from plant sources and, when mixed and combined, give a specific flavour profile (such as caramel or cola).
NO SUGAR, FOR REAL!
Whilst we all agree it is impossible to cut sugar from your diet altogether and a little sugar in our diets is fine, it is well established that too much sugar isn’t good for you. According to the Cancer Council, the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, including soft drinks, is associated with a range of serious health issues. We’re proud to offer up healthier alternatives with no sugar that are still damn tasty!
Instead of using sugar in our drinks, we add a touch of organic stevia and organic erythritol (fermented glucose). This adds sweetness and balances out the flavours (especially after we naturally brew out all the sugar used in the fermentation process of our kombucha). Both the stevia and erythritol we use are 100% natural. Stevia is a plant from the chrysanthemum family, which grows in Paraguay and Brazil. It contains no fructose yet is 300 times sweeter than sugar. Erythritol, aka fermented glucose, is a naturally occurring nectar commonly found in pears, watermelons, grapes and other fermented products like wine, cheese and soy sauce. Both stevia and erythritol have been used as natural sweeteners in many parts of the world for hundreds of years. Pretty nifty, we reckon!
Remedy drinks are truly better for you, and you can find the lowdown on all the ingredients that make our drinks so great over on our ingredients page.
REMEDY KOMBUCHA
We brew our kombucha the old school way in small batches for 30 days using real tea black and green tea leaves and a SCOBY, which stands for Symbiotic Culture Of (good) Bacteria and Yeast. The result of this traditional brewing method is a flavourful, all natural, sparkling bevvie that is packed with live cultures, tea polyphenols (aka antioxidants) and organic acids.
REMEDY SODALY & REMEDY SWITCHEL ACV
These two bevvies are made with a base of apple cider vinegar (ACV), which contains gut-friendly prebiotics known to aid in digestion and deliver other benefits like enhancing immunity and healthy skin.
REMEDY SHOTS
The perfect blend of delicious and functional ingredients in a mini-but-mighty 60ml bottle gives you a direct hit of goodness. Remedy Shots are an easy and tasty way to give your immune system a boost, ease your digestion, give you an energy kick (boo-yah!) and promote relaxation.
At Remedy, we are obsessed with creating the best drinks going ‘round, and we’re all about carefully sourcing high-quality, all-natural ingredients, ensuring no sugar is added to any of our drinks.
AA+ RATED FERMENTARY
Our team has an unwavering commitment to producing drinks to the highest quality standard. Remedy holds the highest accreditation from BRCGS, where we are benchmarked against the global standards of food safety and quality – one of only two in Australia to have this rating. To achieve this, auditors turn up unannounced to conduct an intensive three-day audit. It’s a huge point of pride for our team at the fermentary to achieve this rating, who make it their mission to have the Remedy fermentary audit-ready every single day of the year.

People are at the heart of our business, and we’ve created our company values to reflect this. From our everyday actions in the workplace to our hiring process, we ensure all Remedy employees, current and future, hold the same common values.

Our Planet
We work with Waste Ninja for our organic waste recycling (all our tea, SCOBY, ginger etc.). Our organic waste is collected from our fermentary and put through a process called anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable and environmentally friendly process transforming food waste into electricity. In this biological process, microorganisms break down organic materials in the absence of oxygen, producing biogas as a by-product. This biogas, primarily composed of methane, can be captured and utilised as a renewable energy source.
This electricity is sent to the Victorian power grid. For every tonne of organic material processed, enough electricity is generated to power 22.9 homes for a day.
Since commencing the program in August 2021, we have diverted 440 tonnes of organic matter from landfill – generating enough electricity to power 10,056 houses for a day.
In September 2022, we moved into our new home in Dandenong South, a 5-star green-rated fermentary. Some of the features of the Remedy fermentary include:
- 1.1MW solar power system to reduce energy usage from the grid (almost our whole roof!)
- Rainwater harvesting for appropriate greywater use (such as toilets, etc.)
- Water-saving features such as air rinsing for our bottles
- Sensor-controlled LED lighting and timers on heating to reduce electricity throughout the site
- Repurposing organic waste like tea and SCOBY through a third party to produce renewable energy and organic fertiliser
We’re continuously working to reduce our footprint, especially at our fermentary. We work with multiple companies to ensure we’re diverting as much waste as possible from landfill. Some of these initiatives include:
- Working with Waste Ninja to turn our organic waste into renewable energy. Read more about this above!
- Recycling our label backing paper via Avery Dennison, who use this to produce tissue paper for the apparel and footwear industry (yup, that tissue paper inside your shoe box!). The tissue paper produced in this process is also recyclable – how good!
- Our glass and aluminium waste is separated and recycled via our waste and recycling partner JJ Richards.
- All clear plastic and cardboard are baled (separately) at our fermentary, and recycled via Australian Paper Recovery.
- The big bags that our sugar comes in and plastic-lined paper bags from our production are recycled via Big Bag Recovery. The team at Big Bag Recovery turn these bags into a reusable resin, which is then used to create new products for Aussie customers.
We’ve also light weighted our 330ml glass bottles, reducing 225 tonnes of glass each year and increased the recycled content in our cartons by +30% this year.
Some other big projects that are underway…
100% RECYCLABLE PACKAGING
We’re on a journey working towards having 100% recyclable packaging in FY25. Our cans, glass bottles, cartons and PET bottles are already 100% recyclable (winning!).
100% RECYCLABLE PLASTIC BOTTLES
We are working with suppliers to make our PET bottles 100% RPET. One of the challenges to making this transition quickly is the availability of appropriate material to use in our amber bottles and the lack of existing infrastructure with local packaging suppliers. All Remedy drinks are live cultured and chock full of organic acids and amber bottles are the best way to keep them super strong, happy and healthy! The market for 100% recycled amber packaging is in its infancy so we are working with our suppliers to make it happen ASAP. This is a big step, and we’re incredibly excited to be on this journey with our suppliers.
Remedy holds a ‘Leading’ position with APCO, the Australian Packaging Covenant Organistion. APCO is a not-for-profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. As members of APCO, we’re working toward Australia’s 2025 packaging targets, keeping packaging materials out of landfill and retaining the value of the materials, energy and labour within the local economy.
